Nursing Home Financing: Get the Care Needed
One of the most difficult aspects of getting a loved one medical care is nursing home financing. There are options available to help with the expenses when funds are needed. Not many people are able to fund medical expenditures out of their own pocket.
Medicare Medical Help
The Medicare program is run by the federal government. You can qualify if you or a loved one needs additional care in a hospital after a standard three day stay. Some additional services that qualify are physical therapy and help with walking after a bone break or stroke. This program will help cover costs for up to one hundred days. The first twenty days following the initial three day period are covered in full but the co-pay is required.
Medicaid Medical Help
Medicaid is available for people who have a low income or do not the resources for proper medical care. It can also be used if you do not have Medicare benefits available to use. All Medicare benefits must be used before qualifying for this program.
Local State Aid
The state also has programs available if you are in need of medical attention from a nursing home. The state will do an evaluation of your medical and financial needs. The person doing the evaluation will determine if care can be given at home or at a nursing home. The assessor will collect information and decide whether your medical and nursing needs will be covered.
